Wool Shawls & Scarves - Designer Fashion Woollens Knitwear

Perhaps the first shawls originated in Kashmir where theywere made from luxurious Cashmere goats' wool. They were extremely expensive exclusive items desired by Europe's rich and famous. It was not until the late eighteenth century that efforts were made to try and produce cheaper versions for the masses. Edinburgh and, in particular, Paisley, were two such locations in Scotland and Britain.

The widespread fashion popularity of the shawl has now disappeared, but it is still a sought after fashion accessory when produced to exquisite patterns and in soft wool.

It is possible to buy such items throughout Yorkshire.... or to choose a pattern, the wool and needles and make your own.
